My 92 Samurai project
« on: January 24, 2010, 01:12:40 PM »

Just recently picked up my 92 Samurai from a local guy not 5 minuets from my house. I've always wanted a sammi so I just couldn't resist when I saw it for sale. It is pretty much stock except for some BF goodies. Runs and drives great. I've already done some wheeling and hill climbing and am very impressed with it's capabilities. But of course I am looking to do some upgrades.

The first upgrade i'm thinking about is suspension. Not too sure on what kind of lift I should get, but I do know that I want to run 31" tires. Any suggestions on lift kits?

Great site BTW!

You should be able to fit 31's with a 3" lift. There are several kits out there for the Samurai, look around the links section "Offroad Marketplace" for vendors that carry Samurai suspension systems.

There are other issues you'll need to address, like gearing, extended brake lines, steering, make sure brakes are in good condition.

Before you buy anything do your research, and buy what suits your needs.

I would just do an axle flip. I have done quite a few of them. The wrangler springs do work great. Run 92 Isuzu brake lines in the front, 84 mercedes steering arms for high steer and move the shock mounts so they are angled. The perches are easy to find for $5 apiece! Scrounge on ebay and junkyards - you will find they are easy and cheap to build.
